ENOCH LIGHT: THE FIRST CENTURY

As much as we try and keep up with today's Now Sounds, it's always good to remember past masters, and today is the perfect occasion to wallow in the music of Space Age/exotica/strange music maestro Enoch Light: today, August 18, would have been his 100th birthday. And there's no shortage of celebrations going on:

Xtabay's Lounge World has six, count 'em, SIX entire albums up for zip download with more to come. "Spaced Out" has always been a personal fave of mine. And if that's not enough, EnochLight.com has links to even more Light downloads, as well as telling you everything you need to know about this technological and artistic pioneer.

Thanks for the great link Mr. Fab! I now have more of Enochs greatness in my collection. Allow me to share a personal story:
Last April I was involved in a very bad auto accident. This fellow hit me head on. The poor guy died and I suffered a a crushed femer. Well scattered about in my wrecked car was 4 or 5 Enoch Light albums as well as some other loungy oddities. I acquired these from a family friend with some good taste in my humble opinion.
A woman that came to see if I was ok and give me some comfort saw my albums scattered about. "Wow Mike!" she exclaimed. "You have weird taste in music". It gave me a chuckle and a feeling of pride in my unfortunate predicament.

BTW-This kind of music sounds really cool when on Percacet and Vicadin.

Yikes, what a story. But I thought you were gonna say you lost your albums in the crash. Phew! Glad you're ok.
